A newly arrived Melbourne resident has released a video statement alleging that members of a rival group tried to burn his family alive in a Molotov cocktail attack on his home and vehicle.

In the footage, Muhammad Abel Ahmed Mahmoud, who recently moved to Australia, directly addresses viewers and describes the incident in detail. He says a known group arrived at his residence and set his car alight before hurling a bottle filled with accelerant towards the house, where his children were sleeping inside.
