Victoria Police’s Major Drug Squad has launched a fresh public appeal after a routine cleaner’s visit to a Belle Vista short-term rental property in Keilor East uncovered a massive haul of illicit drugs, firearms, incendiary devices and more than $1 million in cash.
The shocking discovery was made around 11.30am on Friday 24 January this year when the cleaner entered the premises and immediately called police. Officers from the Major Drug Squad attended, secured the scene and later called in the Bomb Response Unit and Australian Defence Force to deal with a number of incendiary devices found during the search. Those devices were later destroyed in controlled detonations.
