As outlined in my reporting last week following the jury’s guilty verdicts, high-profile Melbourne celebrity manager Ralph Carr was taken into custody after being found guilty of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault stemming from an incident at his home in March 2023.

In the County Court this week the legal landscape shifted. Carr’s lawyers formally abandoned any further application to keep his identity suppressed. The focus has now turned squarely to an exceptionally rare application to stay, or temporarily pause, any sentence that may be imposed.
